Pekingese dogs, also known as “Lion Dogs,” originate from China.
Expected average lifespan is 12 to 15 years.
They are 3-6 kg in weight standing about15 to 23 cm tall at the shoulder.
Due to their long and thick coat they require regular grooming. They come in various colours, including red, black, fawn, white, and sable.
They can be courageous and proud in nature and are usually affectionate with their family members.
Pekingese require regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight and overall well-being in the form of short walks and play sessions.
Early socialization and consistent, positive reinforcement-based training methods are essential due to their independent nature.
Predisposed to brachycephalic syndrome due to their short snouts causing breathing difficulties. They may also suffer from other health issues such as eye problems, joint issues, intervertebral disc disease and dental problems.
